Am new to this forum and metal detecting in general, although ive had an interest since I was a child.
Have recently got myself an old ex army metal detector, really nice item, see pics.
Is in new condition and it does not appear to have ever been used. All extending rods in original paper wraps, leather and suede case like new, its even got an original tool with it. Am really impressed considering it must be around 50yr old.
I have been researching what batteries I need and realise the original tin batteries (3R12U, 4.5v) are obsolete. I can still get the 'flat' 3R12's, 4.5v batteries (panasonic for about £1.50).
Does anyone know the process for linking batteries (i.e how many) or how to connect to the device?
Or is there a modern rechargable type battery that would work?
I have been told that some people have used an E-cigarette battery to power theirs, is this a good option?
