    Newbe ? about batterys

    Hi all

This site is the best, Great people.

I have read that I should be using fresh batterys for best results.
At what voltage should I ditch my set and replace?
    Thanks in advance.
    Bill
By the way I am using an ACE250.

The voltage from your batteries is well above the voltage needed to run your unit. You should get an indication from your unit, icon, sound, turns off. This will happen before the batteries get low enough to make a difference. Why, the detector has a voltage regulator that keeps the voltages steady and as long as the batteries are above a certain point you are OK. Your manual may cover this. No matter what anyone says almost all modern detectors will go to the level that is stated in the manual. Earphones will help save your batteries only if you can adjust the sound from your detector. If you adjust sound at the headphones the detector is still amplifying the signal to the speaker and still uses the same amount of power............................................. ............. Man that was long!

Dogbeck, I use the ACE 250 also and at first I changed batteries when The Bat indicator was down maybe two bars from full charge. Since then I have pushed it and run mine until it gets down to the last bar before I change batteries. I've never timed it but I suspect I get 40-50 hours on a set of batteries and never noticed any lose of performance based on battery charge.

In ANY case, I always have a spare set of batteries with me and when in doubt, swab them out.

    Good hunting . . .

Best advise especially if you happen to stumble on a good area that you may not be able to come back to later on.
