I was flipping through a magazine today and got an idea that might be useful to detect caves. Is it possible to use one of the fish finders that are usually on boats,to see through the ground and detect caves or possibly caches?? If not then maybe the technology could somehow be applied to that area in the future. sorry if this type of thing has already been done, but I thought I could atleast get input about the idea.

I don't think fish finders have that type of power. You could use GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) or some acoustic devices like the oil companies and geologists use.
