    Pinpointing advice needed

I have recently bought a Bounty hunter Quick Draw II (luv the thing)! I have had excellent success w/ it, but pinpointing a target w/ it is a *&^^^%%$!!! I have a 10 inch coil & am able to obtain the target post diggging a 4" inch wide hole. I would luv to "not" have to do that, any suggestions?

Try this. Put it in all metal mode with your disc set at or close to the 11:00 O'clock position and place the center of the coil on the ground on top of where you think the target is. It should let out a single beep pinpointing the target, if it does not beep then the target wasn't under the center of the coil. It that happens try again until you get it.

Sweep left to right over the "beep" and note where the nose of the coil is at each hit (a particular clump or blade of grass, say). Then, sweep towards you and away passing over that point and again note the beeps. You now have two axis and where they intersect is the object. You may need to repeat it a few times to narrow it down better, but it only takes a few seconds. Then put the coil over the object and sweep while lifting until the beeping stops. Depending on the unit (don't know about B.H.) you can estimate the depth that way before digging. I never switch over to pinpointing mode and use the above motion sweep location all the time.
