    Vu meter for PI Detectors

I just got a Lorenz unit with just an audio through speaker target indicator. i've suffered hearing loss at so all the target return intensity (volumn) sounds pretty much alike. has anyone put a VU meter or Peak Power Meter using a needle or LED bar graph display in the head phone output jack? This would give a light /needle change for every three db of sound intensity change which is what a normal ear detects.

how to do it this way any other ideas would be greatly appreciated

Re: Vu meter for PI Detectors

There was a company producing a jack plug with a light built in but you couldn't tell tones, whilst a vibrator unit I saw a few months ago did feel different as the machine fed different tones through it.
Is the real problem your hearing or is it the detector. I never thought Lorenz P.I. machines had much 'colour' in the audio.

Some underwater metal detectors use a vibrator instead of headphones.
