    thermal imaging cameras

As a firefighter we use thermal imaging cameras for search and rescue at fire scenes. We have also found them useful while searching for missing persons in the dark. I'm thinking how useful would they be locating recently disturbed ground? You may have to wait till just after sundown to note a temperature difference. TI cameras are super sensitive(at least the ones we use are), you can see footprints where somebody recently walked, so were talking fractions of degrees in temperature that it can "see".
Thoughts, comments and suggestions about how useful a tool this would be.

    Re: thermal imaging cameras

I guess if you were looking for recently disturbed ground it would be handy. Not sure why you would need to locate recently disturbed ground, but if that was your aim you're set. Not sure why someone would be disturbing ground after dark to begin with, either.

Wait until daylight and looking for disturbed leaves or grasses might be cheaper.
