Land and River, below ''Civil war'' Sight !!

I live in Tennessee.And theres this house they say dates back when the ''civil war'' was going on..And they say ,there is alto of civil war stuff all around the land! But the owner of the land they say will no let you come on his land at all ...

This house is up on a hill..but at the bottom you cross the road down another hill to the river.'' Besides hunting on his land were would a good place to hunt ''{{civil war relics''}}??What area do i want to search the most? near the river maybe? How can you tell how old trees are?

Ive been using a ''Bounty Hunter'' (pioneer 505)detector,for about 4 years now..OK its not a whites!! But It works for me ..heres some of the things Ive found . Civil war bullets,fuse 4 cannon ball,15 wheeties,Indian head cent ,silver quarter >kids spent it!! ''ouch'',skeleton key,old toy gun,real old pocket watch,old dinner bell,oh and alot of new change..while digging found old pepsi bottles .even marbles!! good luck !!

If it were me I would find out who the land owner is and then ask him/her if they would let me have permission to look on their land. I always hear that the landowner will never let anyone set foot on their land. I have yet to be turned down. Be honest and tell them what you are looking for. You never know... they might not only let you hunt the land, but they might even show you where you would have your best chances and give you a history lesson on the land.

For finding out where to search you have to do research. Find old newpaper clippings, publications and such. A great research item for the Civil War is the War of the Rebellion/Official Records of the Civil War or OR's for short. Here's a site that has the OR's online: http://ehistory.osu.edu/osu/search/search_OR.cfm Just type in an old landmark that close to the location you want to search. Such as a really old town, river or other landmark that was there back in the days of the Civil War. Old maps are also great. Civil War engineer map are even better. They are out there, but you have to keep looking and it takes alot of research. TN was a hot spot for action so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding engineer maps.

The first thing I would do is go and talk to the landowner.
