Ive heard this off a seasoned md'er is there any truth in it
Hi after speaking to my pal he stated that he allways gives a search area a good soaking with water. Goes back the next day he reckons a better depth range is due to mositure is there any evidence to support this ? thanks

actually yes.The more moisture in the ground the better targets read.I believe it has to do with better conductivity of the metal when the ground is wet.
i dont know how much you would have to water to make it effective.

He must have a good water truck. I don't know of anyone who takes their water with them to hunt large areas but after 18 years of hunting, I can say that finds are usually deeper on days after there have been some significant rains.
I am sure like was said above that it has to do with conductivity. Water = greater signal.
An undisciplined hunter with a highly capable machine will miss many more targets than a disciplined hunter with a limited machine.

Couple of years ago my brother and I revisited an old homesite about 2 days after a drenching rainstorm because it was close and we wouldn't have to drive on any muddy roads. I found two beautiful tokens about 5' from one another. They both gave out a signal like you wouldn't believe. About a month before that we had "scoured" that exact same area without a single hit!
