    overlooked but good

My nephew came up with a handfull of rings from the front yard of the courthouse that is used for divorce procedures. He saw his mom throw her ring away when she came out with her divorce case finished. Talk about right under your nose discovery. Also best excuse I have ever used when searching in public areas is to say you are looking for a part that fell off a wheelchair. I had been doing that and got into a place that was always kicking people out .

My New England puritanical grandmother would have had something to say about that along the lines of "Fibs and curses like pidgeons come home to roost."

KVM wrote in one of his books that many rings had been found in the river not far outside of Reno, Nevada where newly divorced women threw their rings off of the bridge. The courthouse angle is a new one for me. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hey Shortstack,
Thanks for the tip! That bridge is one block from the courthouse over the Truckee river.
Nothing but concrete around the courthouse in Reno.

Man, now I have to get an waterproof detector or wait for a drought.

A team of four or five treasure hunters used a suction dredge there years ago and filled 18 five gallon buckets with rings, knives and coins. They ended up on the cover of a treasure magazine when they decided to auction the buckets to the highest bidder and split the cash. I don't remember the sales price from the story update but perhaps Floyd Mann can find the article in his archives and post an update. siegfried schlagrule
