Got my first permission to detect on someone's land!

Hi I am happy to say I mustered up the courage to ask a homeowner if I could detect their property and they said yes! Unfortunately I don't know my machine too well yet. I used a Garrett ace 250 last year and this spring I upgraded to a t2 se. Any tips on settings or what you would dig or not dig on a property like this? It's an old farmhouse built in 1850. The ground balance up here in upstate ny is about 70-80 whatever that means. Thanks for looking I'm planning to go Sunday afternoon if all goes well!

I should plant some treasure and test it? Hmm. Good idea.

Yeah, a few silver coins, an old flat button and a piece of gold jewelry may be easier than a treasure!

Most buttons will ring up like a penny or dime, good luck! And take your 250 with you in case you get frustrated with your new machine.

Greg, You're my hero man. That slave tag is incredible. I think I've "pinpointed" a couple of problems I have. I cant wait to get back out there. Thanks for the link to the setup for relic hunting. Looks like you have some EXCELLENT spots to detect. Where I live is shrouded in history but unfortunately its covered in pull tabs, can slaw, ketchup packets, juice foil tops, pencil tips, cut pipes, balled up foil, you get the picture. I'm going to focus my efforts on the woods for a while. Revolutionary war battles were fought around here. I think that in time my t2 will lead me to something cool. Detecting a few hours a week is tough. Wish i had more time to do it. 34 years until retirement! Mike
