I usually pull the box down from the top and away from the stem! I was always worried the clip would snap, but it never did. I took mine back off the the stem every time I used it.

So if I mount it on my belt or get the Tesoro Body Mount Pouch the piece will stick out?

There is body mount pouch that will accommodate the pole mount, yes it will stick out .

99.9-percent of folks never belt mount it because it is so light. it is an option, that's all. Silly to you perhaps, but there it is.
