I'm looking for input about the Tesoro silver sabre 2. I have a chance to buy one for $100, is it worth it? Are the standard 8 inch coils waterproof? What kind of depth on targets? Thanks in advance for any advice.

For that money grab it............It is fairly simple to operate and gets decent depth for coins and jewelry. It is not a wet sand beach detector but great in tot los and parks, about anywhere there is dirt. It has no ground balance so it isn't as deep as a Tejon, but hey, it costs less too when new. The coil is waterproof if the connector at the coil if it is OK. As for depth of targets, expect near 7 or 8 inches in good ground with eight inch coil for coins. Very fast response and the great Tesoro lifetime warrany if anything goes wrong, even with used detectors.
Good deal there on one of the favorite Tesoro machines, and don't forget about Tesoro's Lifetime warranty and Great service. Any problems with it and Tesoro will likely fix it for free, even though you are not the first owner. How Cool is that?? Plenty Cool!!! HH Cass
