Couple of Tejon questions
Is the Tejon more sensitive to hot rocks? If so, am I just S.O.L? I have the Alt disc. set all the way due to the iron rusty clump trash that registers anything in between at times, and it still picked up rocks as a perfect signal. In the site I am at I have found one hot rock and that was last year. I found three in 10 minutes today.
Second question. When I swing the detector to the right in all metal I get a solid tone everytime(much like ground balancing)I was going to re balance it, but it was ground balanced fine with a perfect hum. Is this a coil wire issue? I tightened that up but didn't help. I did thoroughly clean the coil etc.

Re: Couple of Tejon questions
I was waiting for someone else to answer you but no luck.
The Tejon is not hot for Hot Rocks, just hot for everything. Turning up the alter disc all the way is about right if your sens is set too high. The best detectors for hunting around hot rocks are Minelabs like the Sov GT and Excal because of the many frequencies.
As for the detector making a noise when you swing it to the right and you already cleaned the coil cover it is probably a lose coil wire inside the coil. Try it with a different coil.

Re: Couple of Tejon questions
I can't say if it's more sensitive to hot rocks than any other machine, but I have found several of them near a couple cellar holes that I have hunted that my old Ace 250 never picked up. My disc was just below foil. Not sure how high up they hit. If I remember though they were not a strong hit. More of a short quick signal like something really small. In fact I think the rocks themselves were small.
Don't know why you would be getting a signal when you swing to the right. The only thing I can think of is there is something large and metal on the right side of your body (like a belt clip or something like that). Or you could be hitting a mineralized pocket of ground. That's happened to me several times. When I hunt in all metal the threshold will go up a bit if I swing further out to my left side. That's because I have my digging trowel hanging off my belt on the left back side of me. And if I carry my bucket of stuff with me while I'm hunting I have to hold the bucket behind my back otherwise the threshold will go up when it sees the bucket. The all metal on the Tejon is very sensitive.

Re: Couple of Tejon questions
Thanks guys. I called Tesoro today, it was late so they are calling me back tomorrow.
The rocks were big Swartzie, that might be why such a strong signal. But with alt disc set to max it wasn't even crackling it was a full tone with these rocks...maybe I should crack em open and look for a surprise It was a cellar hole site also.
Unfortunately Sandman I don't have any other coils yet. But since I bought it used I don't expect Tesoro to repair or replace for free so I'll probably be buying a few sooner than I thought.

Re: Couple of Tejon questions
Tesoro has fixed many of their detectors FREE regardless of the new/used mantle unlike the policy of the other stingy manufactures that claim to offer great service.

Re: Couple of Tejon questions
That would be a wonderful outcome. I do not however feel entitled to it so either way, just so I can get this thing firing on all cylinders. I only spoke briefly with one woman at Tesoro yesterday she tried to locate someone but they were gone or out, just from that brief experience I could tell their customer care is exceptional.
