Terry any tips on this technique would be greatly appreciated.
All of the flip-ups I experienced were from receeding surf (sucking back out), or shore breaking incoming waves in knee- to hip- deep water. I have learned to just raise my coil out of the water momentarily as the wave comes in - or goes out. I don't have any problems in waist-deep water, just ankle- to knee-deep. When I hear "flip up" I know the hunter is barely in the water, and usually about knee-deep.
When the incoming tide is low, mini surges flow upstream from the set waves that have breached the bar.... flip city.
