I have the 10x12 spoked 5 pin coil. When attached to the detector, coil wire wound around the shaft and coil attached, it gives no false signal, works like it should. When I unwrap the coil wire and take off the coil and just plug the wire back into the detector, it sounds off when I shake the coil and wires, false loud noises..When attached properly, the coil works like it should.....Defect or Normal.

Normal. Look at it this way empty pockets: The wire to your coil is a conductor. If its shaking around in the detection field of the coil its just like your passing the coil over a target. In my experience one should always secure the coil to the shaft of the detector to prevent false signals~ also called falsing. There is a thread on this from a while back I'll see if I can dig up in a day or so.
