been on the findmall forum for awhile. thought i would join another one. got a vaquero back in april for my first detector. really enjoy detecting. i am glad i got the vaq also. seems to do well.

it is cool. found by a river dam. not deep either. it is heavy. found out 56 was the last year of the customline. 57 they renamed it crown victoria. fun researching stuff you find, for me anyway. the next weekend i found a 1944 henning counterfeit nickel in the same area. that was neat reading about those.

The Vaq is a great first detector, but in reality any Tesoro would serve them well. If they don't have a large budget and don't have heavily mineralized soil, a Cibola, Silver, or Compadre would also be great choices.

And Yep, for just starting out you have made some really great finds! It sounds like you have a good handle on how to effectively use your Vaq. Now it's just location, location, location!
