My new Tejon arrived yesterday evening via big brown truck. Played with it a little today (ok; several hours...).
Besides digging a few steel bottle caps, some nuts & bolts, foil & pulltabs, I managed to dig ten pennies. The oldest of 'em is a '64, several from the '70s, and a couple crusty zincs. I was happy. ^_^

I see that this hobby requires plenty of patience, and that it's going to take quite some time learning this Tejon...
Going back tomorrow to play in the dirt again. Feeling a need to pull up some silver coinage, or at least a couple wheaties.
I'll find 'em. Plenty of old places to look around here. Did get a snyde comment from a local, about finding the "mother lode'... It could happen... ^_^

Next time you get a comment like that, ask him what other hobby or sport is there where your equipment eventually pays for itself? Sometimes faster than you might think....good luck!

Congratz on your new machine! The Tejon will definitely pull silver if you get your coil over it! Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Get over some moist spring soil, ballance it half decently, and you will be sterilizing the Chinese when you fire it up. Sucker can go deep !

Poor Chinese... I'm taking my sterilizer out again today. There's a spot just down the road I've had my eye on for a while now. May turn up some silver... ^_^

I used to zip tie gold and silver rings to my Tejon. When I got a smart azz crack from someone like " lookin for pennies ? (and ensuing laugh to their friend)", I would say no, I"m looking for these.....and point to the rings. Then the smirks turn to open eyed surprise. Happened every time, lol. I'll see if I can find an old pic. Found it. Coyote, older bottles, old copper oil can, and I had found a dog tag there I believe.

Wow..lucky Canadians!!! if I hunted some city parks around here with 6 gold rings tied to my detector, I would need a armed escort!

Most thugs don't realize how much a detector is worth, gold rings, now that's another story.....

Garbage du jour...

Well, no belly up yotes, but I did clean all this crap (AND two big bags of trash) from the local forest today. Still no silver coinage, but the '65 quarter is an "almost"... Getting more used to the disc settings, and digging a little less foil and junk iron. I'm at just half way between "foil" and the nickel setting on disc 1, and at "tab" on disc 2.. Also getting a bit better with GB, and I'm keeping sensitivity at about 5 (for now). Still need more swing time, but I'm liking this Tejon! ^_^

How long did it take to clean up the dog once you dug it up?

I like my Tejon. Paid for itself in the first hour. And numerous times since.

Just a swoosh in the creek and presto blammo............... I never really got "good" with my Tejon. I was ok and had some killer sites were I managed to get it to go deep. I got a new coil for it this year so I will give it a whirl again. It's all fun.

...and the treasure my Tejon beeped up today...

Out for a couple hours again today. Found a new Compadre at my door when I got home. Told my wife it's for her & our son to play with... ^_^

Think I'm getting the hang of the Tejon and digging less trash, but still no silver. Need to find an older area to dig up... I have just that spot in mind, but it'll need to wait a couple weeks.
Lovin' the Tejon!

Terry, deepest I've dug coins so far has been about 6"-8". Most coins I've plucked were around 4" or less. Dug some choice rusty sardine cans at over a foot.. ^_^

Make sure you are not using too much gain (sensitivity). Experiment with targets you intend to dig. First go to Max Sensitivity, and slowly work your way down to around 3. Note the difference (if any) in your signal as you decrease your gain. Sometimes you can actually pick up depth using less gain.
