I swapped out my hardwired compadre 5.75 coil to a 8ft cabled 8" coil and now I can both wade a bit deeper with it and also use any of the 5 pin coils.
This took me a little over an hour and I took my time, Im not an electronics person. Thanks to Ski Whiz and Texastigerdiggs for their how to instructions.......I wish Tesoro would just start making custom detectors, nobody does that, seems like a great niche in the detector industry....you put an order in of what you want and they build it....kinda like Ford set up a truck I bought from them years ago...
I had to lower the sens pot for the 8" coil. The 8" coil hits the same small earrings and gold chain I tested, only about an inch farther away which is great and coins about 2" more depth. I like the 8" coil, it glides through the water so much easier than the spoked coils.

Very nice job on the mod! Have you had it out on a hunt yet? I just ordered a Compadre with the 8 in coil waiting for it to arrive.

I have indeed. Coins and foil are all Ive found with it so far, no jewelry......which is always what Im after.
The 8" coil really slides through the water with little effort.

Good luck with yours when you get it.
