I have an older Bandido, not Bandido II or Bandido II µMax. It has the 7" brown doughnut coil.

In the back yard, I hit about a 5-6" deep penny really hard. Dug it up. It's a '79'. So I figured I'd do a depth test.
First I excavated through roots. Dug out two small square cut nails on the side of the hole. Dug down 9 inches. Measured it with a measuring tape. The soil is really dry.
I planted the penny flat then put the soil back really tamping it down.

Sensitivity around 8, disc up all the way, made sure it was ground balanced. It was just barely hitting the penny.
So I turned the GB knob counter-clockwise a half turn. Little better hit. Turned it counter-clockwise another half a turn. Really better hit.
Turned in one more half turn and whammy. Dinging really good. So good I definitely would dig it. I wonder if it would still hit good at 12 inches?

I'm really impressed with this detector. I always thought of it as a toy because I paid so little for it used about ten years ago. I just never used it until this year.
Now Monte is selling me his Bandido II µMax with an 8x10 DD coil. I wonder if that coil will go just as deep as the concentric?
Keep swinging!

Watch turning the ground balance too far, it'll start going off too easy. Like at the end of your sweep. Try pumping it in disc mode, if its quiet, keep on trucking!

Is it a 10 turn pot? On 3 3/4, I cant go much further than a half a turn which is similar to 1 1/2 on 10 turn gb pot?

On my Silver, I got about 2" more between 11x8DD vs 8" donut.

Yes, it's a 10 turn pot. It seems stable after being power balanced. I'll see if I can balance it disc mode. Man, if I get 2 more inches using the 10x12 DD that would be great!
The problem is that on this machine it is next to impossible to tell when I've hit the end of the 10th turn. On my Vaquero there is a very definite tug. I definitely know when I'm at the end.
Maybe I should send it in and have a new 10 turn pot put on the ground balance.
