Gary, I have not tried Lithia Park, and assumed it would be off-limits. I might very well have left targets there as a kid in the 1950s! Have you had a chance to do any detecting in or around J'ville? We KNOW there have to be some fabulous targets there.
Vern, thanks for the advice on those number ranges. I don't know why I find so few nickels.
Over the years I have had long but thin experience with detectors from White's, Garrett, Compass and Minelab. I have never gotten the solid, uncomplicated performance from any of those makers that I am getting from the DeLeon.

Bill, I agree. The times this year that I have hunted with other TID machines, and then switch to the Deleon, it seems kinda like daddy coming home and taken over. Step aside children, watch a real man at work.

This morning I found a nickel at 6

", and it never hit 32-33. Bouncing from 36-38. Real solid ring. Just stayed on those numbers and wouldn't let go.

Vern, I'll keep an eye out for targets in the 30s. Maybe my nickel drought will come to a conclusion.

Well, another 25 minutes and four targets -- a key, a zinc, an earring -- and a very nice 1964 Rosie! Nothing to bring a smile like the bright gleam of silver in the hole, eh? Amazing what running the DeLeon at higher sensitivity can accomplish. I had it set at 9, and may go back over the whole place with it set at 10. This has mostly been the back yard. Still have most of the front untouched.

Whoooa there, Bill. You getting carried away there, pal.

Happy you're finding treasure. Me thinks you're about to find something real special.

Hey, if you don't already know this, when set at 9-10, and you hear a faint beep, turn the sensitivity to max in the red.
Also, I turn the discrimination, on those faint targets, all the way past tabs, or even all the way to silver.
If it still sounds good, time to dig.

Congratulations to you, Bill.

Congratulations on the 1920 wheat penny. You darn tootin it's a good machine.

Bill, my oldest wheat is a 1919. So, this seems like a worthy contest.
"Oldest wheatie found with a DeLeon or Cortes, or any other Tesoro; Jan 1 thru Dec 31, 2017." You on? Anybody on?

I tried to post a photo, proving the date of 1919. But I just can't seem to get a clear photo. So I'll just start a new and get busy.

Thought I was digging a wheat this morning. At 8" I kind of expected one. No sir, 1959-D. Anyways, another copper for the copper jar. From what I read, someday it will pay to be a copper penny hoarder.
Not my idea, belongs to Stoofs.

I'm in on the Wheat contest. Found a 1912S wheat with my Tesoro Lobo Super Traq last month. I would post a picture but I can't figure out how to post pictures.

Hey Bill, I guess this means you've got to get back to reporting your Deleon escapes. I kinda got the thread off course for a moment. Quick too. Gary, then Wegland, killed our party. Love it.

Got her out again for a bit today. Gave me pause, as when I turned it on, the AM mode was modulating loudly and numbers were flashing across the screen. Changed the batteries and it settled down. Hope that was the issue. Went on to find two zincs and my first spill -- four 1960s Lincolns and a 1959 Roosevelt dime -- second silver for the DeLeon. I could handle more of this, I'm pretty sure.

Bill, my Deleon was ringing out and jumping all over the place r

ecently. I unscrewed and reset the coil connector to the back of the screen. No good.
Then it dawned on me I was right under low hanging electric wire. Moved away and Deleon returned to old self. Perfect.

Hey, you're doing great. Two silvers? One silver for me. Seems I'm getting beat in everything I do.

Congratulations. I'm hoping that I'll find something special this morning during a planned 2 hour hunt.
