Two wheats this week, 1936 and 1940. Way off of Ammoman's 1881 ihp, but pretty satisfying to find wheats in dirt. Found five this week in penny rolls, but these don't count in my md coin total. Whole another ball game.

the very first wheat cent had the designers initials on them. His were VDB which was on the back then they removed them.

Those initials were stamped for one week then the dies were ground down and they were removed.
Kind of cool situation that made this possible but I have not heard of anyone finding a coin that has been certified.

Game is still on. In the beginning of "Oldest Wheat contest ", within a day or so "Wegland ", was the winner with a 1909 wheat. We all contributed and gave Wegland a new Corvette and a $100,000. No lie either.
So, after much hand wrangling, we decided to extend the contest by including Indian Head pennies.
So it should now be called the "Oldest wheat/Ihp Contest".
Ammoman is still leader: 1881 ihp.

By the way, that was sure a nice find. I don't study coin values, but one would think yours would be worth some dollars. According to what was said previously, not many of those minted.

Congratualtions on the 1881 ihp. Great great find. And the seated quarter. Wow. I found a 1928 wheat this morning. Thought I was doing pretty good until a few minutes ago. Again, congratulations.
