I used my Mojave on the beach earlier this year and it worked pretty good. I did put a wide scan coil on it though. Video of the hunt is on YouTube on Dig-a-holic channel. I've also seen a video of a guy using a Compadre with the small 5.75 coil with success on the beach.

That's same exact advise that I got from Rusty Henry back when I got my Sand Shark for my Galveston beach trip. It's a deep sucker!

I was hoping to find a Mojave or even a cibola for cheap. It will be a dry sand only detector. Sand Shark is way too expensive for a company out of business at the moment.

That's why I replied Mojave or Compadre after you said on the beach and not in it...lol

The Mojave can do quite well in wet salt sand in its High Mineralization setting. As long as the sand isn't mineralized (apart from the salt), the machine is pretty stable with the 7" coil.

I have low mineralization where I detect, but I hear that the
High Mineralization Switch on the Mojave works amazingly well.

Yeah... for what effectively is a fixed setting for high mineralization, it seems to do really well.
