I'm looking for someone with interest in doing research and MD about the goings on
in Ft. Bend County Texas early 1800 thru 1940's. Lots of History and lots
of locations to be worked, fresh dirt turned up everywhere. Texas got started
mostly in Ft. Bend county. Santa Ana marched right through Sugar Land
(where I live) I'm always looking for camp sites. Unmarked plantations abound.
Hows That?

Ft. Bend county does have alot of history. A few years back when all that work was done in the Sugarland area, the project engineer (Don't quite remember his name but it was something like Aschenbrenner but not sure) anyway he is a metal detectorist and I got to see some of his finds that came from the plantations that were torn up, lots of coins with many gold coins. He couldn't take anyone hunting because of the liabilities involved. If I think of his name I will email you but he used to live in Sugarland and maybe still does. I live in Angleton so if you ever need any help in locating or searching sites let me know, I would enjoy the hunt, I wouldn't mind keeping a coin or two but you could have the relics. John

Thanks for the reply John. I get down to angleton now and then
as I do cabinet work for the Hospital. Angleton must have a lot of
good sites. I may take you up on your offer next time I'm down there.
I wanted to MD the highway 90A crossing at Oystercreek when they had
it torn up for widening, but I was just one of those things I never got
around to. Thats been an active crossing since the mid 1700's.
I worked the site where Steven F. Austin died in his brothers cabin, It isn't
far from you, Didn't find much to note. The fireplace hearth was the
only thing left of the cabin. There is a Historical Marker there now, so......
off limits.
Happy hunting...Frank
