I didn't know you could hunt Memorial Park! That's not too far from me I-10 (sorry a** I-10) at Dairy Ashford.
Quick question to ya'll in Houston, do you need a permit for city parks?

Missyw72,
some parks on the outskirts Houston are off limits, Mostly Precinct 4 county parks. That would include some near where you live. These are mostly outside of beltway 8 on the north side.

I'm totally new to the hobby, and only have a cheapo detector. I have yet to acquire a good detector.
The problem being is that I can't make up my mind which one to get. I'm leaning toward a Minelab sov XS2a pro or an explorer.

I live in Spring Woodlands area, and have access to some really killer places to hunt, including the Precinct 4 parks (I have connections in HIGH places) and a farm that's over one hundred years old with two abandoned houses over 80 years old that has NEVER been hunted.

Don't ask me to get the rule changed for the parks, it would ruin my monopoly! ;D

However, if someone can help me find a good deal on a minelab, it might get them invited into the parks and the farm, and some of the other places I go.

Lucky, check the date of the post you are trying to get an answer too. Oct 15, 2008. Note: All Harris County parks are off limits to detectors while City of Houston parks are OK to detect. Memorial park was also the location of Camp Logan of WW1, and later Camp Hudson (BSA). Google its history, very interesting.

Darn old post, what the heck. :D
I moved from the Woodlands to Cut And Shoot Tx.
Now that the weather getting warmer I will go back out to the old rance house.
Found a half of a six shooter and some old henges and medicen bottles.
Oh, did find a few coins, but nothing old than the sixties.
Next month going to Crystal beach, staying at a resort for a week. Might get lucky there.
Got a old map, that shows old towns that dont exists anymore and old railroads.
Planing on checking into them when I can find the time.
Maybe anyone near we can get together.
Not on my laptop, pardon my reply.

Jim
