Most of you didn't know this but a few did. I was a smoker for 40+years and quit just last year. My doctor said I had a spot on my lung and sent me to a specialist. He was thinking the big "C" and so was I due to my former bad habits. I have been on pins and needles for a week waiting on the results of a cat scan I had recently to find out about the spot. The doctor called me just now and said it was not Cancer ! There I said it, Cancer! I couldn't even say it before I was so upset. Smoke for 40 years quit and then get it, Bummer!! But no, it's evidence of emphysema and I have a couple of arteries that are enlarged that I already knew. Those ailments are treatable with medication. I have lost three good friends to lung cancer and it just scares me to death. That's the main reason I quit smoking. So, thanks for you who knew and for the prayers and well wishes. My activities have been severely limited for several months because of my ailments and I was too chicken to go get it checked out. Now maybe with medication I can get back to being myself. Thanks again and tomorrow I am going to celebrate by having a coloscopy! Dang, you have to be tough to get old! Monty

Congrats Monty that it isn't cancer!! I'm glad you were able to kick the habit. As far as the colonoscopy, not such a good thing to treat yourself to, its a real pain in the a$$....sorry couldn't resist

This time they put me out so I don't know what happened for sure. I don't know exactly what they did and I'm not sure I want to know! But it checked OK and they said see you in five years. I'll be 70 then and might look forward to it just to have something to talk about! I think I'll before they do find something wrong. They have poked , prodded, cut open, stuck needles in and entered nearly every orfice of my body and still haven't been able to kill me. Must not be very good doctors! Monty

I was talking to an old drunk one time in the line of duty and he seemed to be in such bad shape I asked him if he wanted to see a doctor. He said no. And when I asked him why not he said ,"Because there are more old drunks than there are old doctors"! He had a point. M nty

smoked for 33 years from 12 to 45-- copd finally forced me to quit --it was quit or die from not being able to breath -- yep kids smoking is so cool --nothing like it -- yep watch me as I wheeze , hack and gag my way to my mailbox , now ain't that just the "coolest" thing ? -- yes I was such a dang fool ----wish I never started or at least had quit sooner .--- my doc says at 47 I got the lungs of a 99 year old person.

Real proud of you for putting those cigs down...your a strong person. Finding out you didnt have lung cancer was Gods reward because you put them down.
I on the other hand......am justa looser is all i can say.
