Howdy All, I bought a $10 junk jar today and managed to get 21 grams of sterling and 1 gram of 14 kt. Also, there was this Wittnauer watch. I am NOT a watch guy, so I have some questions. It is stamped water resistant and stainless steel on the back and American on the band. Does the back pop off or twist off? Are the diamonds real? It is not running and very dirty. Is it worth fixing to sell or should I sell it as is or just throw it in with a lot of watches to sell as part of the lot? Thanks Steve

The diamonds are real. That doesn't mean it's worth a lot though. The back screws off, you need a watch case opener.

You're welcome. If it were in perfect condition, it would probably be a $200 watch.

The watch look pretty good but it and the band are filthy. The filth wipes off. The pin that attaches the band is broke on one end. Is it battery operated or windup? If battery operated, I will pick one up and see what happens. Thanks Again! steve

I don't know that much about it myself. Just passing along what I found with a search using Wittnauer kw9635. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

My guess is that "American" emblem is probably 10k gold and was a service award for 30 years of service. Usually a diamond represents 10 years of service in my limited experience.

The watch is not worth too much but nice catch on the gold award piece.

Cool Indian Steve. And everything I said was information I learned right here on Tnet and now use to my advantage when out hunting.
