How often do you find pewter?

I have been trying to find a source for tin for making bronze and have come to realize that pewter is almost all tin with the rest usually being copper (perfect for me) or lead (not too bad). I know I have seen pewter before in a thrift store but because I don't usually look for it I can't remember how often I have seen it. Anyone see it often? Never see it? Rarely? Thanks.

I see it a lot. I tried selling a few pieces and couldn't get any bites, so I quit buying it.

Pewter is very common. A lot of the toy metal soldiers are made of it and there is a lot of pewter metalware for household use out there.

Yeah, keep your eye out at the thift stores. I see pewter pieces with some frequency, but I never really buy it. I do wonder though how much they could be worth as scrap tin? Troll eBay also. You may find it there for a price that works also. Now I'm wondering what your up to.? Couldn't you just look for things made of bronze to scrap

I will add that some pewter jewelry pieces made in Denmark can be worth buying if cheap. I've made a profit on pieces made by this fella named Jorgen Jensen a couple times. You don't want to scrap those. I also purchased a compote for like 3 bucks once made by some Danish metal artist and it turned a profit of 20 or so dollars. So I guess some pewter can be desired by buyers.

I see tons. I would recommend not to melt the Colonial Williamsburg stuff. It is highly collectible and I've done very well in selling those items.

I see lots of pewter but never buy it unless it's old. (200+ years old).

However, yesterday I got this paperweight for $5.

When haven't I seen Pewter pieces at Thrift Stores? The answer is never as I see lots of Pewter pieces at every Thrift Store I go to.

Comes and goes. Same for India brass/copper stuff. Most is plastic or ceramic. However I do like pewter items just no room for any of it.

I see a lot of newer pewter all the time here in Ct at yard sales/flea markets and other places. I certainly wouldn't melt the older stuff from 18/19th century. Plenty of newer stuff out there that's pretty common.
