I found some jewelry last week including a crucifix that is marked 14k. I paid a couple of dollars for each of my jewelry finds. I got some planters with what appears to be Central or South American faces. I have been told they are somewhere around 1950s and are handcarved. I bought them for $5 a piece. Still new to the board, so I hope I don't get in trouble posting things other than jewelry. Just direct me to a link so next time I get it right, if this not the right area. Finally I got some lamps which need shade covers for these "monkeys" . They were two dollars a piece. I found the lamps and planters at my gwo.

Welcome to the board. No, we don't only post jewelry finds. :)

Those lamps are pretty sweet. They would sell for $200+ each at the auction by my house.

Great finds. I see you got some silver too. Can't beat it for just a few $ each.
Btw, that's not a Crucifix, it's a cross. The Crucifix is the one that has Jesus on it.
But, since it's gold, I would get the stones tested to see if they are real diamonds.

Thank you for the correction about crucifix/cross. I want say it right. Yes, I do need to have tested, but someone told me that he believed it to be diamond because the back of the cross has "holes" not sure of the technical term. I am truly grateful.

My cross and ring finds were from a vendor at the flea market, it is very hard to see in there because it is so dark, but if this couple can see the markings they will up the price. They are not very nice and I am not about to tell them to buy a magnet or a magnifying glass.

Someone told me the planters look to be one of a kind and to have them appraised.

Most often jewelry with stones/gems in them, will have holes underneath the settings for the stones/gems only if they are genuine. Now, this is not always the case but is most often the case. The holes allow the genuine gem to be better cleaned during cleaning and helps prevent dirt, debris, etc. from getting trapped behind the genuine gem and especially so during cleaning of the jewelry and gems, so that they won't have hazing or anything else that will detract from their beauty. The holes also help in venting the ring and settings because anyone wearing the ring will sweat. The holes also help hold down the total cost of the piece of jewelry especially larger holes as the amount of precious metal used is less thus making the metal portion of the jewelry less. A lot of folks think that the holes are to allow light through to enhance the beauty of the gems but that is not the case as a quality gem with a quality cut refracts light back out the top with no need for holes.

Kinda looks like the cross without stones shown on Oak Island

It is funny you should mention that, since I have been thinking it from the minute this thread was posted. On a tangent, I wonder what percentage of us on this site watch that show with some regularity. I would think about 99.5% of us. Probably the cynical ones will say not, as they believe it is all a put on, but they spent some big bucks last summer drilling to do a mock hunt, if that's the case. That equipment from Irving isn't cheap to rent.

I apologize, but I am confused by your statement. These are my pictures. I thought this was a fun site to show your wares, not make accusations of others using stolen photos. Please explain.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. He was just saying that it resembled a cross from a TV show, not that yours was a picture of that cross. I assume they are talking about this one:

I've never seen the show, but I have heard about the legend.

Exactly, TY GibH. I had no idea what I was saying could be so misunderstood.

I have only seen one fairly short clip of the Oak Island show. I generally don't watch Reality Shows anymore because they are too made up, full of BS, too much bad/stupid stuff edited in, the good stuff edited out and besides, I no longer have TV service, so everything I watch is on my' computer.
