I used to frequent antique malls- the junky kind with piles of stuff that you have to trip over and they were amazing. They've all but disappeared from my area but fortunately the thrift stores remain very strong. I've only been really going to thrift stores for a few years now but I have seen the quality shrink and the competition rising (more and more people scanning things on their phone)- at Goodwills especially. In addition I've seen a proliferation of items in display cases shown off prominently next to an Ebay auction printout to justify the price. There's definitely more market awareness. That said, the third-party thrift stores-- the mom and pops, the church-run, and places like 2nd Avenue still seem pretty reach with stuff.

You jinxed me!!! The Junior League Wearhouse in my area lost their lease and is closing. They are trying to move but not sure. Real estate in my area is the issue. Tons of new urbanization causing skyrocketing rents.
