Hello,

I bought this a thrift store for 3 dollars. I ran a series of acid tests on it: gold, and silver failed, but the platinum test was interesting. It held up for about a minute, and slowly started to dissolve after that.

Could this be a low purity platinum? I'm new to testing metals, and I'm having a hard time flinding information on the results, so I hope someone could share their knowledge.

Also, the divot on the back leads me to believe it was attached to something before I bought it.

Thanks in advance,
Bug

Precious metals like platinum are only used on very refined jewelry pieces. They generally are not used in items like this. Look for quality craftsmanship.
