I still in a bit of shock as I’m typing this!! I spent most of my day running around at work, racing to my shop to repair my car and a million other errands I needed to tick off the list so when I finally had some “me” time, I decided to hit the goodwill to look for some stereo components.

Luckily my trip wasn’t wasted. Right away I found some great stuff I’ll be able to use and some to sell to fund more gear. As I was wandering the aisles, I saw a nice looking bowl that had that color you want to see with sterling so I grabbed it.

Upon turning it, I see that it’s a trophy for the 50s. Cool! Then I turn it over and see that is a Paul Revere reproduction and the sterling mark......and the 9.99 price tag!

I can’t get the weight because my scale only goes to 1000 grams but I’ll have it tomorrow on our postal scale.

From what I’ve seen, this Bowl came in lots of sizes and mine is huge. 10.5”across and 5.5” tall.

The real question is this: is it worth more in silver or as a trophy?

Congratulations very nice find. The only way to tell would be to list it for the melt value plus fees and see if there are any hits. Someone else listed that certain trophies sold very well.

well, it bottomed out our postal scale so i used an older metric balance beam scale i have in a back office. So far its reading 1kg and 245grams That should work out to 1575 grams total!!

The fact that its sterling and a Revere repro indicates it was a fairly serious award. Not exactly best female left handed bowler of Poughkeepsie.
Research it.
If it weighs two pounds, the silver itself is worth about $500.

Amazing find bigcaddy! I can’t believe your Goodwill missed the ‘Sterling’ mark on that trophy bowl, although I’m thrilled for you that they did! I’ve found that the thrift stores around me are getting more savvy when it comes to items marked ‘Sterling’ or ‘925’. However, within the last month, the knowledge I’ve gained from this forum has helped me pick up a piece of British sterling marked with the lion passant, and a piece from Switzerland marked “835”. My only sterling finds this year that were clearly marked as such have come from garage sales.

Probably saw "Reproduction" and interpreted it as 'fake', or 'plated'. Sterling probably never even registered. The mind can make itself up for you that way! Gorgeous score!

Beautiful!! Now what model car is that?!
I'm thinking a Cadillac?. That aqua blue window tint leads me to think maybe one made in the mid 1960s :dontknow:

My user name is also a big hint on what the car is. I think I posted a pic before but here’s the front of it.

Someday I’ll get some newer pictures of it once it’s been cleaned up. Maybe today...

Just put the trophy on a digital kitchen scale and it weighs out at 1070 grams. A bit less then previously stated but still not that bad. I had a feeling the scale at work was sticky but now I know for sure.

What a great find! And it cleaned up beautifully! Well done. Why won't my Goodwills make this kind of mistake?

A 1,000+ gram silver object is at the top of my wish list. Awesome job. :icon_thumleft:
