I purchased this today at a thrift store I hit when I'm traveling in the area and took these pictures as soon as I got in the truck to check it over. This was priced at $35.00 and all total it weighs 95 grams and I don't think I'm over estimating when I'm thinking the setting without the stones is a 1/3 of the total weight. I'm thinking this is a MOD 60's era piece. There are no makers marks, only the two 14K stamps. Stones all look semiprecious.

Awesome buy.....but I caution you this, I don't think it will go well with cowboy boots and flannel shirts....lol

Any way you go with that you make money. If you sell as is or if you disassemble it and sell the gold for scrap and the stones as cabochons for someone who makes rings or other jewelry I only see profit. Great score.

I agree on that, but I did have the idea of turning it into a cat collar :cat:

Forgot to mention that some of those stones look like tourmaline to me

They do appear to be a verity of colored quartz stones, like amethyst, rose quartz and others. Some might ever be artificially colored?

I'm finding that's a matter of opinion. I showed it to my wife and pointing out the marks and she said, so that's all gold?. She then held it up and looked at it a few seconds and said I don't think it could get any more ugly though. My middle daughter said it's gorgeous and my oldest daughter pretty much had the same opinion as her mother. Not for me she said. To me it's simply what it is and I can see all the work that it took in the way of selecting each stone, polishing them all and the assembling each stone fitted to the setting of gold. I would how ever like some of your options on when you believe this was made? Mine is the later 1960s, but it had to have been made when gold wasn't priced like it is these days I would think. Also where it may have been made I wonder. My best guess on that is it was made in the US and possibly Mexico?

Nice pick up! I tend to agree with your wife and one daughter. I wouldn't buy it for my wife! Looks like you did hit a bonanza there! But it would make a great cat collar. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah why not, be neat know at night when the cat is out on his nighty cat'n around the neighborhood run he's sport'n a thousand dollars worth of gold. If he didn't come back, I could post flyers saying "Lost Cat" Male, Back in Color and wearing a 14k gold and gemstone collar. Bet a lot folks then would care to help me find my kitty.

I’d try selling it as is. And start around $3500 obo. You’re not gonna find another one like it. It might take a while to sell it but I would not scrap that.

Reminds me of late 50’s early 60’s design. Cool piece!
