I'm in Athens, GA but would consider a relic hunt as well.
I'm looking into Battle of Barber Creek around here (ok, more a skrimish of a US Cav. Brigade and home guard with artillery). There is suppose to be a marker on Highway 441. Looks on Google earth like a lot of houses are pushing into the area. Might be worth asking some new home owners if I can MD their property.
I think it is just south of the 10 loop between Athens and Lawerceville. As you can see, there is a lot of development in that area. New homes may be on top of good ground, and IF permission was granted, might be fun to detect.
Drove by the bridge on Macon Highway in the right side of the red oval. It is the Middle Oconee Bridge, so I think that is the one named as the site of the engagement. Mitchell's Thunderbolts (homeguard) with artillery fought off a company of Union calvary coming up from the south. Suppose to have killed 18. Quite developed now. Anyone want to help getting permission from local land owners?
I live in the Acworth, Kennesaw area and would also be interested in a relic hunt. Do you
let new people that don't know anything tag along??
Would love to have you along. I don't know much about relic hunting myself. Mainly coinshooting so far. However, getting permission in the right area is going to be the big challenge.
Wow, I'm a Buckeye, from the great State of Ohio. If you guys ever do go relic hunting let me know. I'm retired now and I'd drive down your way to do some CW hunting. I've found many interesting items in my time, but have never hunted a CW site in the South.
I do have some CW bullets from a CW camp site I found here in Ohio. The 3 ringers came from a target practice range. I also have some reunion badges from the CW reunions.
Really sounds like a neat idea, count me in.

The Fort Daniel dig has finally been put back in motion. This is a bit earlier than Civil War as it was a temporary frontier fort constructed in 1814.
We are planning for early morning (7AM)July 28th near Dacula, GA. There is a Best Western within 10 miles if anyone wanted to spend the night before or after. $70 is the cheapest rate we could get.
I need to know how many people plan to attend so we can have enough volunteers around to help out.
