I hunted near a battle field for a few hours where the French and Germans fought in 1796. Not directly on the battle field, it was an edge field which is to the left of the below picture. The painting, now in the museum, was painted shortly after the battle and this view with the fields in the background are still intact. There are several houses there now to the right but the fields are there. Hope to get permission to hunt directly on the battle field but they are still cropped. Forgot to take my camera with.

Didn?t find much from the battle but enough relics to make for an interesting and fun hunt. The ring is pewter and was probably part of a beer stein. Lead horse and an underwear button.

A little button thing with the word NEDO, a whatsit, a musket ball, 2 little whatsits, a 1924 aluminium/brass 50 Pfenning coin, and a lead seal with an eagle.

Obverse of an 1831 copper ? (Quarter) Kreuzer, not in great condition but I?ll take it

And a nice little broken silver coin dated 1766, 17 broken off. Not sure where the coin is from but found a few Nurnberg coins similar to it. This part of Germany was under Austrian influence then. It is a milled coin.

Reverse of the silver 1766. HH and thanks for looking, Mike

Very Cool Relics. Its nice to see what other relic hunters find out of the U.S. Hope to see some Battle stuff from that spot....curious to what the average caliber balls were used in that battle. The one in the pic looks to be about 72 ? Thanks for showing.

Nice finds Mike. That lead seal is probably from the time of the battle. It is the German seal, and would date from about that time. Would have been used on bales of cloth or clothing. Congrats...Lance
