I was going to stay home today and catch up on chores, but the nice weather isn't going to hold out forever. I couldn't resist the sunshine, seventies and crowd free weekday. Back to the picnic grounds and I had the place to myself. I started around the 1920's picnic shelter. Every swing is 2, 3 or 4 targets. I check the depth meter and only dig the ones over 3 inches deep. First signal was a wheat, second a 1945 merc. Later came a 1942-D merc and then a 1935 merc interspersed with many wheats from the 40's. Finds started to dry up so I wondered aimlessly looking for a new hotspot. The targets were few and far between in the open fields, but finally I started digging wheats from 1910 to the 1950's. I then dug a 1907 Indian and wondered where the silver was. Finally I found a 1955 roosie, a low mintage one as far as roosies go. All decades of wheats were present but that was the last silver of the day. I also spied an Indian point on a pile of recently moved dirt. I love those mercs, but I need to work on my 1800's fix.

Thanks, this place started out circa 1900. I just need to hunt some older places like the ghost town I found the 1872 and 1865 IH pennies at Sunday.

Nice finds,

I love to find points while out hunting like that. It is better than a common silver anyday. That's a nice one to. Looks very similar to one I found a few months back.

Nobody asked me but if someone did ask I'd say, 'If I found what CaptnSE found in one day, it would be a PERFECT DAY!' Outstanding finds. What a terrific site.
