Hello everyone.Today was a good day for me. I found something that I wasn't expecting to find.... a buffalo nickle. It ceases to amaze me that I keep finding things at this place everyday. I thought I had about hunted it out but as I walk the grounds things keep popping up that I have missed before. This was in the same hole as the Indian penny. I pulled out the nickle then covered the hole. For some reason (shame on me) for not always checking I re-cehecked the hole and got another solid hit. Pulled out an Indian penny. I thought maybe there's more..... but not. I re-checked several times at different angles. Nothing I was still happy. This is 3 this week and 8 total so far from here.Found another odd, old key, an old fork, part of an old spoon (brass) or copper, a shard of pottery (this stuff is everywhere) and some modern clad from the 70's and 80's. Thanks for looking Ron

The soil cleaned it. :D You've seen all of my finds. The soil really is very gentle here in this part of Ohio. No clay or standing water, etc. I just washed it off with water and toothbrush and dryed it well with a clean towel. That was it.

Congrats once again, you've got me stoked for another hunt. I was once again going to work around home on my day off, but now I've got to get out and swing my coil. ::)

I didn't mention those marks but appear to be some kind of marks from a punch or drill. They are shallow though

Re: First find for me as I stumble upon an old pocket spill

Very nice Buffalo!

I'm from Michigan, today I found a 1957 rosie and it was as shiny as any coin I've ever cleaned. The soil around here is supposed to be good on copper, but I wouldn't know
since my oldest is a 1910 wheat, but I hope to get an Indian before too long. Too long
is a Michigan winter.

Good Luck,
HH.
