Got a call from an upset wife to find hubby's ring
I got a call and an email from a lady last week asking me if I could come hunt for her husband's lost wedding band. It was a titanium ring, not very expensive, but very cherished. I wasn't sure what kind of readings I'd get from titanium. I talked to a fellow detectorist and he advised "no" discrimation. I got there Sunday afternoon and got the story. It seems the husband was working on his off-road Jeep and decided to hang his ring on a control arm bolt while he was underneath working. He then got in the Jeep and drove down the long gravel driveway. It was a Looooong gravel driveway. Well..........start swinging. Every swing was a iron or tab reading or two. Each time I'd move the gravel around with my foot and move on if it was in the hard pack. A little over half way down the driveway I got a nice loud nickel reading. I looked down and there it was. I walked back to the garage where the hubby was working on his Jeep. He asked me if I was having luck. I said, "well, I think I'd rather be detecting at the old farm house next door". He didn't seem as shocked at this as I had imagined. So then I asked him, "If I find your ring, do you think you could get me permission to detect at your neighbor's farm?" "Yeah, sure", he says. I then asked him if he wanted to ask them now or wait a little while. That's when he roled out from under the Jeep to see me holding the ring. Priceless The neighbors weren't home but he scored me a permission down the road where an old farmhouse used to be. The large barn remained and some nice large trees. I had a couple hours before dark, but found nothing but some lead home made looking plumb bobs. I forgot to get pics, sorry.
