VOL1266-X and I went to a Confederate Cavalry Camp in Middle Tennessee. We split up, he went south and I went north, trying to locate any Civil War relics. My first finds were five 44-caliber bullets. All were located within two feet of each other. This must have been where a soldier unloaded his pistol. VOL1266-X came by to check on my progress. He hadn't found anything at that time. We went to where a spring was located and started digging more bullets. He found a 54 caliber Burnside, 69-caliber round ball, and a 36-caliber round ball. He also found the bottom off of a Confederate stirrup. Next to the spring, I found a 36-caliber bullet and a 69-caliber round ball. I also dug up part of a spoon and two flat buttons. I was told the carved bullet is pretty rare. The soldier cut a plug out of a 58-caliber bullet and pushed a 36-caliber bullet into it. Before I cleaned it up, I thought it was just a fired bullet because it looked messed up with all the dirt on it. VOL1266-X measured the bullet to determine that it was a 58-caliber bullet. I also found a 1945-P nickle and some melted campfire lead. Thanks for looking.

Little did we know that the .58 was so cool when you dug it. This was a good day for us. The Burnside Carbine was a .54 cal. WTG!

Here are the pics that I said that I would post. This is one of the nipple protectors that I have found. I have found 3 altogether. They used these when it was raining,so water wouldn't get down to the power.
The first pic if you look close you will see the piece that went down in the nipple.Sorry for the blur pics.I hope that you can still see what i am talking about.

Good stuff Dman

Given that nipple protectors are not found with any frequency, it is rare and as Nicky P said "Righteous"

Well done :occasion14: :occasion14: :occasion14:
