I shot ym buddy Mark an email late last night after I read in a post (on another forum) that he had today off. So I made the trek up his way and I'm thankful I did! He took me to a park that I had never been to before. Thankfully he knew the honey hole areas and the areas to avoid. He led me straight to the goodies! I can't thank him enough for today! :)

The last time I went detecting was on another forum's group hunt on Oct. 5. 26 days without detecting makes Brian a dull boy. I reached several milestones today. I started the day needing 5 silver to eclipse 100 on the year (actually since June 8, that's when I started detecting again). Well, I got there plus one! :)

Then to top it all off, I also found my first ever gold ring with the Explorer! I've dug a fair amount of gold in the water with the Excalibur, but never one on land with the Explorer! I was shocked when it came out of the hole. It hit in the wheat penny range. If you turn it on its side then it sounds like a pull tab. I just got lucky! Not only is it my first ever gold with the Explorer, it is also the first class ring I have ever found. Dated 1966 with the initials DP. No school name is listed and it is bent in such a way that I can't read the karat. It weighs in at a solid .5 av. oz. :)

Signals were deep today. The SLQ was straight up and down at about 7". Another quarter was 8" and most of the wheats were 7-9" deep. The class ring was about 5-6", I can't recall, I was so excited when I saw it pop out of the plug, haha.

Total Finds:
1966 Gold Class Ring
ND Standing Liberty Quarter
2 Silver Washington Quarters (1941, 1942)
2 Mercury Dimes (1916, 1936)
1964 Silver Roosevelt
BSA Neckerchief Slide
2 Indian Head Cents (1890, 1900)
31 Wheat Cents
1927 Buffalo Nickel

Yeah, it took a while to locate one online to date it. The only one I've found so far dates to 1958, so I thought that was pretty cool.

Great finds, I love the Boy Scout slide, Somebody found one just like it a few months ago. I looked it up back then and here is what I found.

The slogan "onward for god and my country" belongs to "ACTS":
ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIANS THROUGH SCOUTING (ACTS)

Your neckerchief is from about the early 1950's maybe even late 1940's.
I found an article that is dated 1953, and it talks about how they are
continuing with it.

here is a link to more info about it:

Congrats on reaching 100 since June, another great accomplishment! And on your first gold ring in the turf!!

You know how to use the Explorer. It shows in your consistency and quantity of old coin finds!!
