Roman coin - emperor Trajan.

Hi everybody !

Yesterday I found Roman coin of Trajan (Marcus Ulpius Trajanus , Rome emperor 98-117)
For now, it's oldest coin I found.
1888 years old, looks good for it's age. Doesn't it?

Nice coin. Did it come out of the ground that nice or did you have to scrub it a bit? That is a long time for a coin to sit in the ground.

I'd say about the same odds of me finding one here in Indy,,, very, very, small...
We'd probably have a better shot at the lottery...

Nice coin. Did it come out of the ground that nice or did you have to scrub it a bit? That is a long time for a coin to sit in the ground.

I did not even touch it with cleaning stuff, came out that clean.
Romans made their coins of the best silver you can get, that's why is so clean.

I just pulled a Large Cent out this morning, Roughly 200 years old & no Details at all.

Of course, It's only Copper. But

Take a look, some of them are Germans coins, but most of them are from Russia.

Wow Matejko. When I find a King George from the 1700's I think I have really found something old. Can't compare with realizing that the last one to touch your coin was a Roman. My brother and I are planning a trip to England next year to detect. Hope we can come up with some half that nice. Congrats...Lance
