Yesterdays Civil War finds and some 45 Caliber Bartholow's!

I met up with a fellow 417 Relic Hunters Club member Mark D. and after breakfast we hit 3 different yards. We were hunting in an area several hundred yards from an old camp that was destroyed years ago by a gated community. We did find an occasional bullet in the first two yards but the third was the jackpot. Mark had been in that area a few days ago and in a different yard he dug a carbine sling buckle and a brass container with 16 unused black powder caps inside! He also dug some Bartholows as well. I dug a few and also a nice carved bullet, a old soap token and a couple Teardrops. Thanks Mark it was a fun day! Hope everyone has a great weekend, Tim

Looks like you hit the jackpot with a great bullet site. That token looks pretty cool too - can we see a cleaned up picture?

Congrats on the carved bullet. One of my favorite CW relics to find.

Looks like you found some revolver bullet drops also. I haven't seen many of those on the forum. Great finds. Monty

1920s soap token there. :)

Soaking and a toothpick will clean the crud off of it if you wish to clean it up.

Tsgman, what kind of detector do you use? As always I love your finds.

MichaelB
I have two XLT's and two MXT's and use the MXT most of the time with the 6x10 DD coil. I am trying out a 10 inch DD coil from Kellyco and have been using it the last 2 or 3 weeks with good results. It's got great depth and the weight is really good. I used the Super 12 coil a lot last summer and did really well but it has decided to quit working? I think the frequency is the problem it is noisy no matter which detector I put it on. I have a few buddies that have had the same problem. I am shipping them back to Whites and even though they are out of warr. they said more than likely they will take care of it. They always do take good care of me, they have a great service dept.
