There is a place in Little Rock that was built as a park
by tha WPA during tha depression. It is a rocky valley,
or a large gully. It isn’t anything special. It’s rock walls
and walkways with rock steps.

It was forgotten over tha years and rediscovered in tha
1990’s. At that time there was a big article in tha paper
and tha city cleared brush and trees so that tha old rock
work could be seen again and tha walkways could be
open to tha public.

It is now used as a bike and hiking path.

Tha WPA also built tha road above tha park. Here is an
old drainage pipe and retaining wall that was built by tha
WPA and it’s still in use today.

In this photo you can see tha main trail going to tha right.
There is another trail going up tha hill on tha left. There
are several of these with rock stairs at tha top. I wanted
to search around tha steps for coins.

12-10-3.jpg

Here is one of tha old rock stairs built by tha WPA.

12-10-6.jpg

On tha way up I dug this thingy and there was glass every
where. Next to it was most of an old coke bottle.

12-10-4.jpg

12-10-5.jpg

Then I found a very old, un-fired 357 magnum .

12-10-10.jpg

12-10-12.jpg

Then I found a real old American Eagle, un-fired 20 gauge,
single 0 buck, shot gun shell end.

12-10-19.jpg

That was about it. Not one coin.

12-10-14.jpg

It wasn’t raining, but tha bushes were still wet and it was
cold. My feet hurt form walkin on rocks and my battery was
runnin low.

Then I cut my finger on tha broken glass.

Nice thing about glass is it makes a nice clean cut. lol

12-10-7.jpg

I went to tha store and got me a jumbo hot dog and some
chips, with a pack of band aids.

After that I decided to do tha tot lots down at tha Arkie River.

This will be tha last time for a while because winter is settin
in.

12-10-15.jpg

12-10-16.jpg

12-10-17.jpg

Wasn’t much there, but I just wanted at check one last time
for tha year.

Before I left I had at check out tha volley ball court where I
found a gold ring one time.

12-10-18.jpg

Glad I checked. I found a huge silver ring. It has at be at
least a size 15.

12-10-9.jpg

I found a silver pig, a broken necklace and and a couple
of tiny pieces of jewelry and a couple of pieces of braclet.

Those two balls in tha lower right are BB’s I found for size.
Tha Vaquero is very sensitive to small stuff.

12-10-11.jpg

Here’s tha whole wad.

12-10-13.jpg

And like I said, “She Had a Big Hart”.

But tha Tabdog’s got it now… lol

12-10-8.jpg

Hope yaw are haven a good holiday season,

Tabdog

Looks like the little pig lost itz feet on some of that glass you found... One of the good things with your hunt was that you didn't have to go to the Emerald City to get that heart...<grin> Nice finds, Best to you.

Nice finds tabdog. Cool old spot there.
Getting cold here too, maybe we can get in some more hunting before it gets to cold to spit.

Wow, I love detecting old sites like that. ::)

I suspect the older stuff was very deep, with years of rotted leaves creating layers and layers of mulch.

Congrats on your park finds!

Nice presentation of your post!!

The green thing in the upper right hand corner of the second to last picture is beautiful.

That is the finest example of magnetic plastic refrigerator magnet clip thinggy I've seen all week.

Great pics... I like seeing the stonework of yester-year rescued to be enjoyed, even though most folks don't even notice it.

Looks like you had a fun day recovering history! That coca cola bottle is way cool! Broken Glass does suck! I cut my finger while digging through a trasy pit on a farm looking for 1920's bottles. I love the heart   The silver ring is also nice! Probably worth some $$$! ;D

You may have alerady known this but the Super Vel cartridge was one of the "new breed" of super high velocity rounds, touted to be the best defense round and hunting round in the world. Turns out it was only a 110 grain bullet and it came apart and wouldn't penetrate worth a darn. They were in production in the 1970s and only lasted a few years. Great finds by the way. Monty

I had not noticed that it also had a magnet.
