Not a good surprise really, as when I cycled to the Winter Bean Field I found it had recently (this morning) been chisel ploughed. It was very rough but I decided it would give me a chance to go back over the productive area again. This area is at the bottom of a slope & the soil is some of the lightest (sandy) in the area. The rest of the slope & top is heavy clay. Something that the Romans would not have missed & therefore farmed this area losing & dumping their stuff on the bottom section.

As this ground was so uneven & by following the plough I was leaving air gaps over the dips. I decided to go at a 90 degree angle therefore getting the head lower in the valleys. This was hard work as I had to keep one swing low & the next swing high whilst stepping up & down the ridges. :-\ :P

Dug plenty of nails, some pieces of lead, & lots of the tiny tack heads (which the XP picks up by the hand full, very sensitive machine).

After this short hunt of less than 3 hours I had:
1 Roman Coin
3 17th Century Jettons
Part of a Medieval Spur
& bits.....

Tomorrow I will change tactics & cycle further to the Failed Crop Field & hope that I can beat the farmer before he ploughs it up.

Excellent work Crusader.

The Queen should bestow an annuity upon you for all the wonderful history you have recovered.

...I'll write her a letter.

Its going great Cru, now find the TOP field. You always find in an afternoon or so about the same amount of great finds (Yea I know after finding a lot of them you want something else, but remember there are a lot of guys and girls out there that find much less in such a time period). You are doing just great. I do not see any difference between the Cortes and the XP, except you are digging more. That is good, learn!

Great finds. I plan on coming there to hunt next year so I'll need some free advice. LOL LOL Just info like local laws, where to stay and such. I'm sure its not quite that easy but it would be great to hunt a place with lots of history.

Have a great day JIM
