Nice finds! Almost looks like a horse on the lead seal/token. I have seen keys like that referred to as casket keys, yours would be an exceptional example in very nice condition. Congrats on the hammered and HH, Mike

Almost sure thats its a ShyCock token. These were produced as 'substitute' for the real thing. The lead tokens often had tethered cocks with stones or lead weights being thrown at them. Cock Shies was a Medieval game where people stoned the birds to death. It was dieing out in the 18th century but the boys would throw these lead tokens at a bird shaped target.

Early game token would be an awesome find as Crus described! I have to laugh as we are free to post real names to older relics like Cock for a rooster here on this forum and several other words necessary to describe medieval or older relics. A few other forums will not allow that and I have racked my brain trying to figure out what the naughty word was in my post that would not allow me to proceed with the post. HH, Mike

Think you may be correct Crusader, I dont want to remove any more soil as it highlights the detail.

Yeah, its a cool piece of history, & I too now never clean lead tokens.
