1891 seated dime
1884 seated dime
1900-s barber dime
1857 flying eagle cent

that relic bud I have been told by civil war relic hunters is part of a " jews harp" that style was popular back then I have found about 4 so far a few in different sizes.

jeff I think your probably right about that reed, like i said I was told by relic hunters they are" jews harps" and last week the same thing was sold in a civil war relic site on ebay as "jews harps" but i tried searching for that style and could not find pics of them. jd

I was Told this After Writing into a Treasure Magazines WATTZIT PAGE years ago.

I suppose, ME not knowing what a Jews Harp Looks Like, or all its Parts.

Maby It could be used in Both.

Great finds!! I think it looks like a part of an old lock, you know, the ones where you slide the thingy across to lock it or w/e...But its prolly not What is the big rusty thing under the two harmonica parts?

Thats what my rule for rusty metal is, If it has any shape to it keep it My favorite things to find is anything with engraving, designs, or marks. Or of course anything brass, copper, or tin.

I think Jeff hit it correctly with the pump organ reed. A jews harp is typically shaped like a banjo and is about 4 inches long, and is open in the "neck" end. The end has to be open so that the little do-hicky can be plucked. My Question is.... How in the heck did you get your detector to find the arrowhead?!?!?!

Wish I could make mine do that!

I wouldn't complain about finding coppers. You never can find a cop when you need one! Wait...you mean coins? Oh, OK I see now. Funny thing, in my part of the country when those coppers were in circulation everyone llived in a teepee or a dug out and this wasn't even part of the USA! Something from the turn of the 20th century is really old around here! JIM
