Found this brass T buried about 16 inches deep in the middle of an old dummy line that crossed my family's old place back in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Great southern ran locomotives in to this part of Mississippi to haul logs. I don't know what it came off of, but I figure it might have come off of one of the steam locomotives. (Maybe) It was an interesting fine anyway. I will go back, and do some more looking later on. On the front at the top it has two X's stamped on it, and on the back side the number 11 is stamp on it. I don't what it means, but it was a good find. The piece is 12 x 10 inches.

Man that thing must have sounded like a Freight Train in your headset:) Neat find, not sure what it
is, but I'm sure someone will come up with the answer.

It was an important part to whatever it was on I'm sure.
I doubt it came off a locomotive though.

I know that I now have lived longer in Colorado then Maryland, so forgive me for asking, but what's a dummy line? Perfect setup here, Old River.

Amen on the setup. LOL. A dummy line is an old place where railroad track laid years ago to transport logs out the backwoods. The tracks have been removed leaving the mound where it went through to area. An abandoned site where trains use to travel through the area. Does that clear it up. No I'm not going to make joke of it. Thanks for asking.
