Brother Kirk and I went back to the old homesite where I found the Confederate scipt I button last year.
Theres alot of land there to cover and the area around the old homesite is the toughest iron I've ever picked through combined with an overhead cross country power line that loves to mess with all detectors. We did come out with more cool relics by digging everything that is not iron plus a bunch of the bigger iron. The very first hole I dug was the 1918 Merc., I knew that was the start of a good day. Then the other things started slowly coming out. Kirk and I had left the copper mess plate hidden there. We both found one and had hidden them there to get next time but couldn't find but one of them today and it looks like a rather large mini-ball or something was shot through it. Then the last hole I dug was the Brass Stirrup, WOOHOO! What a way to start and end the hunt. If anyone can help I.D. the stirrup let me know it would be appreciated.
P.S. Check out the little odd piece of brass with the Pat. Feb 1791 is that possible I didn't think patents went back that far. Hmmm.
