Dont mean to be rash but are those "real" and not maybe some sort of reloads. The reason I ask is b/c that is really strange to be diggin that many spencer rounds and even some still intact. All I can say is wow   great job buddy

Hi,
They are the real deal, as they can not be reloaded. the Spencer round was a rimfire exactly like a modern day 22 long rifle, and the priming compound was loaded along the rim of the shell then when fired could not be reprimed. The Guys in the reenactments today that use spencers have original guns with a replaced centerfire breechblock, or use modern produced spencers, there is one or two companys that make spencers that use a modern centerfire cartridge.
looks like a great find! must have been a bit of fighting right there where these were found.

--If the Spencer Rounds were not great enough, you photo the cache of cannonballs, awesome !!!!!--- I nominate you as Relic Hunter of the Year-If you see a strange car outside your house it will be me trying to find your spots--- I think you have found a magazine.

Wow, that's a pile of Spencer's. I found some where the Battle of Timberville happened, but nowhere near that many.

Great post.

To find that many in one place ,that means one thing.
A PLACE THAT PROBABLY HASN'T BEEN HUNTED
It looks like you would find something else also, maybe the buttons and buckles comes next
Congrats
