Derby digger and I were out on saturday, checking out a new site, when we came across this safe.
I checked with the local PD, they seem to think it was from the original town of clear water, ks, which dates from 1874, but I don't think this safe is that old, it has concrete in the door and ball bearing drawer slides TNET photos 304.jpg

I think someone really wanted to get inside of it.
the wire wrapped around the door was used to hold the bolts back on the door
I couldn't find a name or date anywhere I could see
saw one similar on Ebay, but no name on that one either

Cool find Sniffer! Was this out in the middle of nowhere? Looks like the door got blown open. Did you detect around it?

I found a stolen 'cash register' once, coins & food stamps scattered all around, called the police, waited around,
the cop acted like I was wasting his time, but the store owner was thankful.
Strange find.

It's about a half mile from the new site, but, in an area that sees floods, I'm going to try to get back there next weekend

Sniffer,

Are you saying you have the mind of a thief and know exactly where they would take stolen things? I'm impressed!

Sniffer,

I know Burdie has taught you all his evil ways so its just rubbed off. I bet 5 years ago you couldn't have found that thing. Just let me know what you find around that safe if you go back. Maybe a few coins got scattered....probably just a couple of old dirty gold coins. I know how you hate finding them! LOl!

How far do you think that thing would've moved in a flash flood?...And how far away is the Kansas town they think it's from?
Might be quite a hunt for anything judging by the flotsam in the background. Cool find none the less...i would've liked to have found it...just my two (clad) cents worth...
