Unusual musical find

I was quite puzzled at first while digging this- it sure was shiny and silver, but what the heck......?
It would appear that some poor French Hornist lost their mouthpiece in the park after a concert. You wonder how this sizable shiny thing went unnoticed on the ground long enough for it to sink a couple of inches!

I believe that is a mouth piece for a band instrument like a sax, trumpet, or trombone.

It's a "Vincent Bach 18" mouthpiece for the French Horn. It's probably considered a student, rather than a professional mouthpiece. I believe they are silver-plated. Maybe some kid who was being forced to take lessons and be in the band, by their parents, buried it on purpose!

You're not gonna believe this but I also found silver things...Front one is beat up and appears to be solid silver,says CONN 4...Back one says VINCENT BACH 7C....both are quite heavy on the mouth end.

I'm not positive but,

a LOT (in fact most) pieces like that are solid silver,

I'd bet $$ that it is!
